Sustainable Wine, Our Territory in a Glass
What we are diving into is a kaleidoscopic journey around a glass of wine that leads us to explore the world behind and within a glass, to savor its essence more consciously. It’s a fascinating journey made of people, places, and narratives that intertwine in a unique land like Umbria. Our journey begins on the sunny slopes of Monte Subasio, 5 km from the city center of Assisi. We are faced with a typical Umbrian rural building, renovated while preserving its character and using local materials and methodologies in respect of the territory’s traditions. The sun floods the vineyards all day long, and the light, silence, and aromas take us back to a timeless atmosphere. In the wind, scents of must and aromatic herbs mingle. Arriving here, one feels distant, not exactly from what, but certainly removed from the everyday. Perhaps, looking around, one might simply say closer to the beauty of small things. We are surrounded by hills covered with vineyards and olive groves gently rolling almost as far as the eye can see. At dusk, following these verdant waves, one’s gaze reaches the point where the undulating profiles fade into a thousand reddish hues. Here we will welcome you and accompany you step by step through vineyards, tastings, nature, and history.
From the beginning, we have embraced the millennial tradition of Umbrian viticulture, but we have also kept a keen eye on the future and attached great importance to research and innovation, accepting the challenge of sustainability. We like to think of this exploration as a journey around the poetry of the land: wine. Responsibly. We think of food that nourishes but also of ideas, values, and the perspective we uphold in a discussion. There is resistance but also care and defense in the act of supporting because very often we support what is fragile and at risk of falling; we support to uplift and protect. So, in the context of wine production, sustainability for us means acting with awareness, acting with a series of actions that respond to virtuous thinking and that concern not only the environment but also the economic and social aspects related to production. It’s a theme that goes far beyond the concept of organic because it encompasses the entire production process, from the relationship with the territory to the work of the people to the enhancement of the culture and places of a territory.
